The Exhibit Edit

This project reimagines a prefabricated Exhibit home, originally constructed with a post-and-beam structure and stressed skin panels forming the walls, roof, and floor assemblies. The renovation is guided by a respect for the home’s original construction system, paired with a focused effort to bring its spaces and performance in line with contemporary living.

At the core of the project is the thoughtful transformation of key interior spaces. The existing kitchen and two bathrooms are fully renovated to improve functionality, material quality, and spatial flow, while a new bathroom is introduced on the second level to better support the evolving needs of the household. Each intervention is carefully considered within the constraints of the prefabricated system, allowing the design to enhance rather than disrupt the home’s underlying structure.

A new connection between the existing carport and the main house creates a more seamless transition between exterior and interior spaces, improving everyday circulation and usability. This addition strengthens the relationship between the home and its surroundings while providing a practical, weather-protected entry sequence.

Targeted upgrades are implemented throughout the home to improve overall comfort and performance. Insulation is enhanced in areas of work, select windows are replaced to increase energy efficiency and natural light, and the HVAC distribution system is reconfigured to align with the updated layout. Minor refinements across the interior further unify the space, resulting in a cohesive and elevated living environment.
